«Smart: Blood Service» ISBUILT ON MIS «SMART»
«Smart: Blood Service» IS
A separate working solution built on MIS «Smart» for blood transfusion stations. An automated information system that improves the quality and infection safety of donated blood and its components and provides control and management of information during planning, collection, testing, quarantine, distribution, issue and use of blood components.
- 40+Automated workstations
- 19System modules
- ISBT-128Labels for finished products
- 1 : 1"One donor — one recipient" principle
Key functions
- automatic identification of the donor, donation, laboratory samples, and containers with blood and its components
- automated decisions on admission to donation or deferral
- records of donors and of persons barred from donating
- donor search by set criteria (age, sex, blood group, address, date of last donation, etc.)
- import and export of data from other systems and media and from equipment (scales, blood pressure monitor, webcam, laboratory analysers, etc.)
- printing of a barcode wristband for unambiguous donor identification
- recording of donor examination results, including the reason and term of deferral
- printing of barcode labels for tubes and containers, entry of donation results
- accounting and expiry control of consumables
- recording of clinical laboratory, biochemical and immunohaematology results, tests of donated blood for transfusion-transmitted infections, and quality of manufactured products
- automatic check of test results against standards
- recording of manufactured components, automatic calculation of their expiry date and volume control
- generation of labels (including to the ISBT 128 standard) and quality certificates for finished products
- blocking the issue of untested or rejected products
- automatic check for defects in every unit during testing, quarantine and storage
- write-off of components with the reason (test results, process defects, expiry, etc.)
- tracking of container locations in cold rooms
- real-time management and control of stock and expiry of finished products
- records of the recipient (diagnosis, age, blood group, etc.)
- recording and analysis of components and products issued to hospitals
- check of blood group compatibility between components and the recipient
- accounting of fixed assets, inventory, production costs, financial settlements, cash, payroll, etc.
- monitoring and analysis of facility performance indicators, a wide range of report forms

Implementation
Results and requirements
What implementation delivers
Standardisation of the manufacturing process for donated blood components, identification and control of critical process points, traceability from donor to recipient and back, and compliance with the "one donor — one recipient" principle.
Technical requirements
- database server;
- computer equipment (computer, printer, label printer, barcode scanner);
- local network and internet connection;
- a secure data channel (VPN) between departments.
Advantages
- minimal cost of implementation and commissioning;
- functionality is constantly expanding;
- the system is adapted to customer requirements;
- changes are implemented quickly;
- minimal hardware requirements for the database server;
- runs even on the free edition of Microsoft SQL Server Express;
- the client runs on the free Microsoft Access Runtime on any Windows from XP onwards;
- reports can be produced in Microsoft Office or the free LibreOffice.
